You may be able to still drink coffee and steer clear of heartburn if you do an assessment of your coffee consumption.
You will want to evaluate two things: quantity and the type of coffee you are drinking.

The first, quantity, might be the most important. Some people (like me!) drink a lot of coffee.
If you want to avoid cutting coffee completely out of your life, you’re going to have to cut back. Anyway, do you really enjoy your sixth cup of the day that much anyway?
Also look at drink sizes. It used to be that a “cup of coffee” meant 4-6 ounces. If you’re stopping at the coffee shop, you’re walking out with 12-24 ounces in a paper cup.
You just need to cut back. You might get headaches for awhile, but they will go away soon enough. The trade off for heartburn relief will be worth it!
Check the Roast and Variety of the Coffee
The second thing to do is to check the type of coffee you are drinking. There are dark roasts and light roasts.
Light roasts contain more caffeine than dark roasts. Since caffeine causes acid reflux, you are better off sticking to the darker roasts to keep heartburn away.
Also check the variety of the coffee bean. Some beans are less acidic than others.

If you experience heartburn during nighttime or when you are about to go to sleep, the most likely culprit would be your bed. Elevate your body position when you sleep with pillows in order to make gravity work for you by keeping stomach acid inside the stomach.
